Established in 1990, the West Midlands
Women in Business Association (wiba),
is one of the premier business women’s
associations in the Midlands. It offers
an opportunity for women managers and
entrepreneurs in Birmingham and across
the region to network, learn new business
skills, develop ideas and share business
knowledge with each other and some of
the leading businesses in the West Midlands.
wiba is also recognised nationally as
a professional voice for businesswomen
who operate across a wide variety of geographic
locations and business sectors, and its
work has been featured on BBC Radio 4
and 5 Live and in consultations with Government
departments.
Current Chairman, Janette Rawlinson -
a personal and business development consultant
by profession, continues to build on wiba’s
profile and seeks to develop its role
as the voice of professional business
women across the region.
“The key to our success is offering
a variety of events that appeal to our
members at different stages of their professional
careers. Today, women operate in different
business sectors and are often working
alone building new businesses or are climbing
the career ladder and reaching new heights
in the traditional corporate environment.
“Whatever their background, our
experience at wiba is that these business
women are all keen to develop themselves,
are open to learn new business skills
and embrace ideas. Our role is to engage
with them, reflect their changing needs
and develop our services to ensure that
we continue to inspire them to succeed.”
wiba runs a programme of monthly events
in a range of locations across Birmingham
and the wider region and aims to bring
a friendly, positive approach to building
business contacts with like-minded women
professionals from all sectors –
employed and self employed.
