Enjoy a curator-led tour of Lines of Flight, the first major survey exhibition of British-Indian artist Balraj Khanna (1939-2024).
Bringing together more than 40 paintings spanning six decades, Lines of Flight presents the most comprehensive overview of Khanna's remarkable career as a painter, writer and curator. The exhibition traces the development of his distinctive abstract practice, shaped by his childhood in Punjab, life in post-war Britain, and enduring fascination with the natural world. Through these works, Khanna explores themes of migration, Partition, identity and belonging.
Following the 1-hour tour, there will be an option to head for a 'buy-your-own' drink at Medicine Bakery at Ikon, overlooking Oozells Square to continue the conversations with business contacts and friends old and new and enjoy one of Birmingham's most distinctive cultural destinations.
