Leading EDI Steering Groups in the Workplace

  • Cherry Reds 88-92 John Bright Street Birmingham, England, B1 1BN United Kingdom (map)

WiBA invites you to join us for a panel discussion on the importance of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace. Modernisation of the workplace has empowered some employees to embrace their identity and culture but also to fight for fairness. Employee-led committees and steering groups give staff members the opportunity to influence policies and practices at their workplace but unfortunately, not every employer offers their employees the chance to create these committees/steering groups or the resources to maintain them.

The panel will discuss important topics such as the role of steering groups and networks, the challenges, and benefits of having this employee-led steering groups and the importance of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. We are delighted to welcome our panel speakers Shauntelle Carty and Narinder Garcha who run the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee at Birmingham City University and organise events, professional development workshops whilst providing advocacy and pastoral support.

The event will start at 17:30 with the panel discussion scheduled to start at 17:45 until 18:30, followed by a Q&A where you will have the opportunity to ask questions. You will also have the opportunity to network at the end of the event so you can meet others and perhaps continue the panel discussion. The event is open to everyone as you will be able to leave the venue full of gems however if you work in EDI or have had the desire to learn more about it in an open and welcoming environment, then this event is for you.

We are delighted to offer this exciting event at £10 for members and £15 for guests. A complimentary hot or cold soft drink will be provided but guests will also be able to purchase further drinks and food at the venue. They cater for all dietary requirements.
